Cockatoos on average are larger then other parrots they can grow to a length of 18 to 22 inches. Cockatoos are  commonly recognized by the showy crests and curved bills. Their plumage is generally less colourful than that of other parrots but they are still beautiful. They are mainly white, grey or black and often have coloured features in their crest, cheeks or tail. They generally have long broad wings used in rapid flight, and can reach speeds up to 43 mph! The Cockatoo species only exist in the wild in Australia, while their sub-species such as cockatiels are found in the islands of the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea & the Solomon Islands.
